Many businesses want to implement corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes. The costs of such programmes can often impede progress. B-BBEE creates a unique opportunity to develop, implement and fund strategic CSR programmes. Collaboration creates further opportunities to maximise the impact of programmes.

Experienced consultant Carla Higgs described the funding opportunities created by the revised B-BBEE codes and shared three case studies of successful CSR projects that have been funded by B-BBEE expenditure at a workshop hosted by the Durban Chemicals Cluster in collaboration with NCPC on 14 June 2016. Kevin Cilliers (NCPC) thereafter shared with members their training programme and some of the successful interventions through NCPC support.
